Continuing to work with similiar themes as with the portraits for the This Is England series, I decided to portrait people through their homes rather than through their portrait. For this series I was going from door to door mainly in Rochester and Chatham and asking people, if I could come in and take a picture of their home.

Motivated by the curiosity of other peoples’ lives and armed with a horseman large format camera I set to a journey to find out how people live and how does the family life in England look like.

In spring 2008 I made a week long trip to Slovenia. I rented a car, which I used for driving around the country, sleeping and occasionally as a ‘stand’ for my camera.

I was travelling without having any particular plan; just taking pictures of everything I found interesting. For these pictures, I used both a large format and a disposable film camera.
